The Alpine hill – it is a very expressive decorative element of a garden. The Alpine plants are amazingly beautiful, differently gardeners of the different countries would not transfer them from far Alpine mountains on own ground grounds. The plants growing on stony district, name Alpine. For their cultivation in flat district it is necessary to create the artificial stony embankment simulating conditions in which the Alpine plants grow. These hills-embankments are called as the Alpine hills or rock arias. It is considered that if the hill is built in the form of an embankment with the laid stones it is the Alpine hill and if in the form of flat stone-gravel platform - that is rock arias (though division this rather conditional). Rock garden plot choose taking into account the general lay-out of a garden. If on a plot there are natural roughnesses of a relief: a slope, a small height or an embankment - that are those places where it is necessary to construct the Alpine hill.

The first stage of creation of a rock garden – it is a plot marking for a hill. Experience shows that the hill looks more effectively if it smoothly passes in a flower bed adjoining to it made mainly from soil’s plants. It serves as an original link between a hill and any other vegetative composition or the small architectural forms which are nearby. The following stage - the drainage device. The Alpine plants grow on easily drained stony soil: they do not love a moisture overabundance. The drainage device of a rock garden should come nearer to natural conditions of growth as much as possible. Under the Alpine hill do stuffing of rubble, gravel, a beaten brick or any other suitable material – this is drainage. From above the drainage is falling up with coarse-grained sand, small gravel or a pebble, and over sand the layer of earth is filled.
